The class organisation for the two high-performance boat types 29er and 29erXX has decided to locate the 2013 World Championships in the Bay of Aarhus under the organisational auspices of Sailing Aarhus.
This sailboat may perhaps be likened to a sort of smaller sister of the Olympic class 49er. It comes in two versions: the 29er and the somewhat larger 29erXX.
After narrowly missing Olympic selection for 2012 the 29erXX is expected to be selected as the women's Olympic high-performance sailboat to partner up with the men's high-performance boat, the 49er.
The 29er and 29erXX World Championships will be held in connection with the 49er European Championships, yet another event given to Sailing Aarhus as organiser.
As the level of sailor skills for the high-performance sailboats abound in the Bay of Aarhus, the local 29er sailors are expected to compete for gold at the 2013 World Championships.
