EUROSAF Youth European Championship 2012

This Youth European Championship is the official championship of the European Sailing Federation (EUROSAF) for a series of international yacht-racing disciplines. These disciplines are closely related to the international yacht-racing disciplines as known from World Championships, the Olympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games. Therefore, this is an important championship event for elite youth sailors on their career path towards Olympic competition.

It is expected that 400 – 500 sailors from some 35 European nations will compete for the championship titles in the Bay of Aarhus. The Youth European Championship will be organised by Sailing Aarhus in partnership with the City of Aarhus and the Danish Sailing Association with the support of Sport Event Denmark and other partners.

”We have chosen Aarhus as host city in 2012 because we know that we can count on their very professional implementation of this event,” says Marco Predieri, President of EUROSAF. ”Aarhus has an excellent reputation and is recognised as a venue with first-rate yachting waters, and for an event as important as this we cannot afford stumbling blocks on the way.”

”We are extremely proud to have been entrusted with this European Championship,” says Thomas Capitani, Director of Sailing Aarhus – ”and there are great expectations of the organiser of an event like this, not only from EUROSAF, but also from the competitors and trainers who have prepared a long time for this championship. The fact that EUROSAF has entrusted Aarhus with this assignment clearly demonstrates that we have distinguished ourselves at the international level as one of the world's leading venues for international yacht racing events.”
