X-35 World Championship
In co-operation with Sport Aarhus Events, efforts to attract the international keelboat-class X-35 World Championship to Aarhus og Denmark in 2008, in competition with four other venues, proved successful. The championship, which was based at the 'Marselisborg Sejlklub' yachting club / Marina, saw the participation of 29 crews from 9 nations.
It's hard to know if the home ground advantage made a difference, but Morten Ulrikkeholm of Denmark and his 8-man crew won the World Championship ahead of the defending 2010 world champions of Italy. Torsten Bastiansen, German yachtsman and Chairman of the German X-35 class association, expressed his great satisfaction with the championship event to Sport Aarhus Events during the competitions.
